Pattens, Dordrecht 15th century

Leather ribs have two functions: They serve to insulate the feet against the cold and moisture of the ground and at the same time protect the soles of the reversible sewn shoes. In paintings they are usually worn mainly indoors.

Historical: Reverse-sewn or welted, depending on the era; as close to the originals as possible

Modern: Inexpensive variant with historical cut but modern production (glued, machine sewn)

LARP: Modern version with extra rubber sole
